Product Description
Our doonas have been made the traditional way since the 1950’s right here in Australia. Firstly we take the only highest quality imported European/Japanese feather and down and wrap it in a 100% cotton Japara cover. Then we finish our doonas off with a piped & double stitched hem for added strength, designed to give you years of trouble free use.
All our doonas come with a 7 year guarantee, are Oeko-Tex 100 certified (free from harmful substances) and are hypo-allergenic.
Duck down is a cost effective but still very good alternative to goose down. Duck down clusters are smaller than goose and therefore are an excellent choice for people wanting a doona with less warmth. Weight for weight, duck down has less warmth than goose, meaning that a duck down doona is cooler than a goose doona of equivalent fill weight. This makes it the ideal choice for children, since children typically require less blankets than an adult.
Doonas with a high down percentage are lighter and warmer than those with a high feather percentage. When comparing fill weights, bear in mind that doonas with a higher feather percentage require a higher fill weight to achieve the same warmth rating.
Cot quilts are channelled, Box can be made on special request.

WARMTH:
To assist your selection, our doonas are rated in Warmth from 1 (coolest) to 5 (warmest). The warmth rating is the average wool blanket equivalent – for example a Warmth 3 is approximately equivalent to the warmth of 3 wool blankets. The best way to choose the right warmth is to consider how cold your house gets at night (on the inside).
The table below provides some suggestions based on the internal overnight temperature of your house and your sleep type:
Sleep Type | Internal Overnight Temperature | Suggested warmth rating |
Very hot sleeper | 25+ degrees | Warmth 1 |
Hot sleeper | 20-25 degrees | Warmth 2 |
Average sleeper | 15-20 degrees | Warmth 3 |
Snuggly sleeper | 10-15 degrees | Warmth 4 |
Toasty warm sleeper | 5-10 degrees | Warmth 5 |
If you are a cold person or are older (55+) consider going one step warmer than the suggestions above. If you are a hot person or if you are buying for children, consider going one step cooler than the suggestions above.
